On30 Narrow Gauge

The On30 portion of the layout was featured as the cover story in the October - November 2008 issue of O Gauge Railroading Magazine (Run 231).

Bachmann 2-8-0 Consolidation rounds the mountain in this fall photo.

Bachmann Climax #7 stops for water.  The water tank was scratchbuilt from plans in an old "Model Railroader" magazine.  Styrene was the material of choice for this project.

The 2-6-0 crosses the trestle over the ceramic village.

The stone station was assembled from a cast hydrocal kit made by Downtown Deco.  This was my first cast plaster kit and was fun to build and finish.

Diesel #2 pulls three ore cars and a passenger coach around the mountain.

The standard gauge line through High Falls Gorge:

An impressive line up of steam power, even if they aren't the world's biggest engines.  The far track holds a Bachmann Climax and a Shay.  On the near track is a little Porter.

This critter started as an HO Spectrum 44 ton diesel.  A new O scale cab dwarfs the power plant.  The engine was built with styrene strip material, and the details were odds and ends from my scrap box.
This little diesel started life as an HO Atlas S-2 switcher.  A new cab gave the O scale engineer a little more headroom and wider walkways made work safer for the crew.  Styrene was again the material used.

Diesel # 2 approaches the long trestle over Seeramic village.
