Welcome to my railroad!

My name is Jim Policastro and this is the Central New York Railroad. The railroad is a 3 rail empire measuring about 27 x 38 feet. It was begun in the late 1990's, but construction really did not pick up steam (sorry) until my retirement in 2001. Equipment is by Atlas, Lionel, MTH, Williams, and Weaver. The track is Gargraves with Ross switches.
We hope you enjoy this tour of the railroad.

Here we are, my wife Pat, Penny and myself. We are all sitting at the bottom of High Falls Gorge. Luckily, it's the dry season.
This four foot high steam engine above the basement stairs greets visitors. It was constructed from plywood, scrap lumber, lots of bolt heads, and a tin can headlight. The bell is store bought. The last stair step has been missed on more than one occasion because people were looking up, instead of where they were going.

The High Falls Gorge area is a favorite of visitors and is one of the first scenes to greet you as you enter the train room:

A glimpse of the On30 narrow gauge line may be seen as a Delaware and Hudson GP-38 emerges from the tunnel onto High Falls trestle:
A New York Central RS-1 on the mainline:

The railroad links rural upstate New York with the big city buildings of Mott Haven:
A Canadian Pacific F-3 passes the Palisades on its way out of the city:
No visit to the Central New York Railroad would be complete without a trip to Red Rock National Park:
